A classic Ogre win over the dead bodies of their opponents! A bit of fist and a lot of luck!

Not only are the Ogres in the finals, they stand as undisputed causers of pain, adding another four casualties to their bellies. Captain Bezagg Brainbasher led the charge as usual, causing two of those casualties, putting him in clear contention to win the Golden Gauntlet award with 8 casualty caused this season.

Twitchy No.743 is gunning for the Miniscule Player of the Year award after getting his 3rd Touchdown of the season. Just short of being the first Twitchy in history to have two new skills!

"Consistency is our secret to our current performance. We have caused at least 4 casualties in every match regardless of how strong the opposition is," said the Captain Brainbasher in the post-match interview.

When asked about the crucial game winning touchdown, he replied,"I was not paying attention. We beat the opponents up so badly that in the end, their team morale collapsed and they were running off the pitch to avoid us. I think one of the Twitchies must have got the ball at that point and scored. We'll have to study the video replays."

"The Bearded Ladies will be a tough team to beat. They seem to be more interested in scoring touchdowns than playing the game, and historically, we have some trouble coping with teams that use that tactic.

We definitely have some room for improvement in our game. Hopefully we can cause at least five casualties in the Finals to top off our wonderful season so far."

Semi Finals: Hongo Valley Wildflowers vs. Bearded Ladies

Its the semi finals and the Orcess turned out in force to support the wildflowers in their bid for the chaos cup!

The orcs won the toss and elected to receive but obviously the crowd disagreed with the situation and started a riot. While the pitch officials brought them back into order the referees restarted the match.

Despite some heavy punching, the Wildflowers never made it across the centre line with the ball. The brutal Bearded Ladies however managed to KO two of the Wildflower blitzers who spent the rest of the game licking their wounds. Then a sudden push against the weakened orc line saw the dwarven blitzer BukBard sacking the ball and try for a score. But this was quickly put to an end by the wildflowers captain Ratama who reclaimed the ball and spent the rest of the half defending it, all chance of scoring lost.

And with that, the half drew to an end with the dwarves venting their fustration. Nargs the slayer pushed the orc blocker Mustard into the crowd who amazingly emerged unharmed, and the dwarf in reserve settled for a bit of vandalism.

The second half started much more differently with the crowd's cheering going out of control, bring both team's spirit up. The dwarves went for a many sided offense, using the majority of the team's strength to push through the right, while Forbrinmin snuck through on the left. Seeing the potential danger in the lone dwarf running amuck in their back field, Wildflowers captain Ratama lead a strike force with Ficus the goblin and Parsley the thrower to ganged up and overpowered the lone dwarf, who had to be stretchered off. Despite no permenant injury, she won't be playing for the rest of the game.

After dealing with the pesky dwarf, Ratama and gang went back to reinforce the line against dwarven push down the right side. However the Beared Ladies still managed to wedge a tiny corridor open and Amanbar pumped her little legs like she has never pumped them before, dashing all out and scoring a touch down bringing the Bearded Ladies into the lead.

In the remaining minutes of the game, the wildflowers thrower Parsley picked up the kicked ball and running back forward, completed a pass to the blitzer Azaleas. She then dashed down the holes ridden dwarven defense to aim for an equaliser. As the dwarves realised the danger, they sped up and covered her as much as they could. The wildflowers tried to pull more players down the dwarven field to clear a path for their striker to score but a slip by the new blocker Vervain broke the momentum of the team and the clock ended.

A one nil victory for the Bearded Ladies securing their place in the Chaos Cup final.

MVP for the Bearded Ladies went to Bukbard, who managed to provide the best entertainment of the game by falling flat on her face after throwing two 1s on a go for it.

MVP for the Wildflowers went to the new lineorc Dewberry who handled herself adequately among her more skilled teamate, gamefully standing on the line of skirmage and getting beaten up.
Round four: The Disco Dead vs. Blue Mountain Earthquakes

Disco Dead fans turn out in numbers and the Dead have +1 FAME. The Ogres wins toss and chooses to receive. Kick goes out of bounds and is placed in the hands of a Snotling.

As the ball floats through the air, the Cheering Disco Fans break into a chant and you can feel the Disco Dead come to life.

The Dead set up well back and take the Ogres first push well. The Disco Dead edge towards the left field and gang up on and knock down a Ogre. Boogie has his eye on the Snotling carrying the ball who feels threatened and scampers over to his left. Too late, he's knocked down and the ball is loose.

The BM can't pick up the ball. The Dead again gang up on an Ogre and it takes 2 WWs, a Wight and 2 Zombies to knock him out!

2 Ogres aren't enough to keep the Disco Dead away. 8 of them knock the Ogres down and open a path to the Ogre backfield for Le Freak. Mr Furious knocks humslef down in the process but both side roll snake eyes for the Armour Roll.

With an Ogre down the BMs move the ball back to their right. Being next to Brother Sledge doesn't help Boney M who gets CAS by 3 Ogres with Morghurg Facemangler getting the honours. He needs a few days in the cemetery to recover.

3 Snotlings start a drive for the endzone. But before the downed Ogres can get up to support the drive, a bit of bad luck causes a turnover. All those down Ogres allow the werewolves to dash back and get between the Snotlings and the endzone.

BME6-DD6
The BMs consolidate and pull the ball back behind their Ogres. Brother Sledge CAS Snotling 741 and a Bone-headed Ogre allows Mr Furious to break through and sack the ball carrier. He tries to go for the ball but falls over in the attempt.

Turns 7 and 8

During the ongoing melee on the right field, Boogie manages to CAS an Ogre.

In the centre, the Snotlings just cannot pick up the ball which leaves the Blue Mountain back field open.

With some fancy footwork, Mr Furious stands up, blitzes a Snotling, picks up the ball and heads for the endzone. He is well covered by The Shoveller and Brother Sledge.

With only 3 Ogres left on the field, the BMEs ignore the ball to go head bashing and Mr Furious scores.

With an Ogre down the BME can't cover the field.

The DDs are down a Zombie as well. They set up very heavily weighted on the right but why are both werewolves in the back field? A mistake or just excessive caution.

And the DD pay for that mistake as the ball lands on the perfect position, just behind the LOS on the right. While kicking himself for not having the werewolves in position, the coach forgets that the Wights are pretty decent ball carriers as well.

Turn 2

By sheer weight of numbers, the Disco Dead knock down the last Ogre on the right field.

Mr. Furious breaks through with the Wright twins providing good cover.

But it's too late. Two Snotlings step into the the path of Mr. Furious. Then Bezagg Brainbasher uses Break Tackel to blitz Mr Furious ... but Mr Furious stays on his feet.

But it's too late. Two Snotlings step into the the path of Mr. Furious. Then Bezagg Brainbasher uses Break Tackle to blitz Mr Furious ... but Mr Furious stays on his feet.

Turn 3

The DD dead try to clear some space for Mr Furious to escape the trap but Woogie falls over trying to dodge out and it's a turnover before Mr Furious can move.

The BME waste no time in knocking Mr Furious down and knocking the ball loose. A Snotling attempts a pick up but he fails and the ball bounces to Boogie who catches it!

Another attempt to open a hole for Mr Furious to escape. This time Le Freak falls over in a dodge attempt. Things are not looking good as the DD end their own turn with 3 critical players on the ground while 2 Ogres bear down on Boogie.

Boogie is down and the ball's sitting on the sideline.

Turn 5

With only 4 players standing, Brother Sledge leads an attack that sends 2 Ogres to the floor. The 2 Werewolves and Woogie run away from the ball in their desperation to get away from the 2 standing Ogres.

Poor ball handling continues to plague the BMEs as a Snotling fumbles the ball into the crowd which then throws it all the way to the center field.

Turns 6 and 7

Mr Furious dashes over to pick up the ball and has a clear run to the BME endzone. The BMEs don't even attempt to stop Mr Furious but take their frustration out on the other DDs but fail to injure any.

Turn 8

On the kick-off, the BMEs are stunned by their bad luck. The DD take advantage rearrange for a Perfect Defense, avoiding the worst of the Ogres and surviving the initial onslaught.

The DDs then gang up on the Ogres. They knock 2 down but do no damage. In an amazing turn of events, Knock on Wood double downs Vargh the Hunter. After they pull the bodies apart, the Ogre has been CAS'ed!

Final score for the Disco Dead was 2 touchdowns and 4 casualties, earning them 5 league points.

Final score for the Blue Mountain Earthquakes was no touchdowns and 3 casualties, earning them 1 league point.

see here for pictures!

Round four: Hongo Valley Wildflowers vs. Redskull Rascals

A brutal match-up has been promised with the boy orcs of the Redskull Rascals and the girl orcs from the Hongo Valley Wildflowers scheduled for game today!

As both sides take up their field positions, a crazed Redskull fan throws a huge rock from the sidelines, smashing the knee of Wildflower blocker Opuntia. Looks like it will never heal completely, poor sad thing. As she was being stretchered off, the Rascals kicks a short ball that lands right into the hands of the Wildflower blitzer Azaleas who dashes ahead into the Rascal’s line with the rest of her team mates.

In the ensuing melee, the Rascal troll Screefin pummels the Wildflower lineorc Camellia, badly hurting her, while the Wildflowers take revenge as the blocker Beebalm barrel into the Rascal blitzer Fordip, braking a couple of ribs. Looks like he won’t recover before the next game.

In the madness of the pushing around, several Rascals team up and smashed through Azaleas’ guards knocking her to the ground and bouncing the ball away into the hands of Ethmean, the Rascal thrower. Not extremely pleased, she immediately stands up and headbutts Ethmean, badly hurting him. Unfortunately the ball bounces into the crowd who gayfully tossed it back onto the pitch, over the heads of the two orc teams.

With both teams entangled on the left side of the field, and the ball all the way to the right, the Wildflower goblin, Aster manages to slip out, scoops up the ball, and ran all the way to the end zone. Score one for the Wildflowers in a very brutal drive.

It’s the Rascal’s turn to receive and they soon formed a cage around the ball carrier and slowly edges forward. The Wildflower surrounds the cage slowing their advance but unfortunately Aster the Wildflower goblin managed to end up next to Screefin, the Rascal’s troll and was killed in the stampede.

The Wildflowers manages to break the cage but not before the ball carrier runs off into safety. But it was too late to score and the half ends.

It seems the same mean spirited Redskull fan has not left as the second half starts with another rock the flew out and stuns Parsely the Wildflower thrower. The Rascals capitalized on the hole in the already depleated Wildflower line and pushes forward hard while the newly hired goblin Rancelot picks up the ball.

After a grueling scrum work, Rancelot manages to break free of the defending Wildflowers and speeds down to the Wildflower endzone, only to trip on his big toe at the last yard. The ball is then picked up by the Wildflower thrower Parsely who throws it to fellow blitzer Clover attempting to bring the ball as far from their endzone as possible.

However the outnumbered girls were not able succeed as the Rascals reclaimed the ball, and throws it down field to the waiting Rancelot who finally dashes once again towards the end zone. This time he makes it and scores the equalizer in the final moments of the second half, turning a loss into a draw.

Final score for the Hongo Valley Wildflowers was 1 touchdown and 2 casualties, earning them 2 league points.

Final score for the Redskull Rascals was 1 touchdown and 3 casualties, earning them 3 league points.<div land behind the dice tray and between the number tracks.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px wasn't 100% sure what I was going to do with it but in the end I decided to cut out a square and do the scatter template on it. This was done simply by using the same method as the number track.

The left over section I just made it into a box. I can be used to hold the dices that are not being used at the time. Or it could be the holding pen for players to chill after being sent off by the ref. This was also done the same way as the dice tray.

And here is the completed thing, ready for play!

Dugout

Click here to see how the number track was done

Now to make the dugout. First the bottom plate is cut out using the same board as the number track, making sure the width is the same. You can see that the area is marked out for the three parts, reserve, knocked out and dead. This later proved to be pointless as I stuck the felt over it....

Next, using spray adhesive, a layer of felt is stuck onto the board. I intend to stick wooden sticks onto the board to act as walls. Since it will not stick properly to the felt, the parts that the wood will go need to be denuded. Carfully marking out the parts that need to go, a sharp knife is used to cut the felt, then it is peeled off. The peeling off has to be done carefully incase the felt has not been cut through, as you don't want to deform the parts you want to keep. A bit of fur removal is needed to pluck out as much as possible of the felt that the spray adhesive grabbed.

The board was next given a light mist using a dark brown spray can to give it a bit of shading. Try to get it onto the area next to where the walls would be.

Next drybrush the felt using succesively lighter brown paints. I did 3 layers on mine.

I thought it would be fun to mark the KO and dead boxes with yellow and red boxes like the official cardboard ones. Also because I'm still not sure I'll be marking them with text so some sort of seperating the boxes would be good. So I use two pieces of card to mask a line and paint onto the felt the two colours. Basically you put the card over the parts you don't want paint on, exposing the parts you want painted, then paint it! Instant straight line.

I then sawed a bunch of wood into the appropriate lengths, painted them dark brown, then stuck them onto the board using liquid nails.

Then another round of drybrushing, this time on the wooden 'walls' and the dugouts are finished.

Now this leaves a bit of empty space in the middle so I thought it would be neat to have an area for you to roll dice in so you don't knock over all your minis with an over vigourous block dice! First I measured the difference in the length of my pitch and the total of the two dugouts. Then the same base board is cut to that length, and the same width as the dugouts.

Using pretty much the same process as the dugout, a sheet of green felt is stuck onto the board, and the boarders are removed for the wooden walls. This time, I thought that it was okay to leave the felt unpainted.

The wooden walls were sawed to the right length, painted black, then stuck on, again with liquid nails. The black was touched up a bit and then its all done!

And finally, the scatter template and misc tray!

Number Track

I decided to start doing a home made dugout to go with my gaming board. I thought it was best to have it in multiple parts one with the number track and one with the actual dug outs for the players. I wasn't going to spend too much time on it so it had to be simple.

First off, I measured and cut out a suitable sized board. I'm not quite sure what the technical name of the board is, its sort of pulp + adhesive pressed into a board.

I then use spray adhesive to stick a layer of cereal box cardboard on top. It wasn't long enough to go all the way so I decided to only have it over the numbers, and not the labels on the side (which indicate what the numbers represent). I have stuck it printed side down because sometimes the printing interferes with the primer. Plus the raw side has nicer texture.

I turned it over and trimmed the excess cereal box card off. Then flip it over again and mark in the squares. Next I use a dried out pen to draw heavily onto the cardboard, scoring in the boxes.

After that, I stuck on number stickers for the number track and the labels. I decided to have the score track here since my pitch does not have the score track. I also collapsed the two halfs onto one. I wanted to label the first column "score" but irritatingly ran out of "R"s so I changed it to "TD" for touch downs. Now I spray the whole thing black!

After the black, I slightly mist it with a pale greyish blue by making multiple quick passes with the spray can over the black.

Then the drybrushing begins. The sticker alphabets and numbers will stick out and the boxes scored with the pen will fall in so hopefully all of that will be picked up by the dry brush. I first gave it a light dry brush with an orangey brown. Then followed by multiple layers of a light creamy colour. I decided that that the details were not obvious enough so I used a black ball point pen and drew in the shadows on the words and numbers and also re-drew the lines for the box. After that, I gave it another few goes with the creamy colour dry brush and its done. Now to wait for a dry day and give it a few coats of varnish.

In hindsight, the TD looks really bare. I should have kept the label "score" and renamed "turn" into "down" or something. Oh well....

Next, the three section dugout.
Lastly, the scatter template.

Beer with beauty

When you bite the turf and your body is aching, it is so easy to just lie down on the recovery bench and wait for the full time horn to sound. type='text'>Round three: The Disco Dead vs The Hongo Valley Wildflowers

Another lovely day sees the start of the game between the shambling but sexy Disco Dead and the mean yet sassy orcs of the Hongo Valley Wildflowers. Both captains approach the referee, a coin is tossed and the Wildflowers are receiving.

A second before the undead got ready, the Wildflowers got off on a quick start and emptied the line of scrimmage attacking both flanks of the Disco Dead line. Unfortunately, no one seemed to remember telling Parsley, the orcish thrower, that they were going to start early and the blubbering fool failed to grab the ball, leaving her and the ball out in the open.

Seeing the juicy target, the werewolves sprinted across the field as Le Freak takes on Parsley while Mr. Furious provides cover. Only too late did the orcs realized their mistake. With the entire offensive line engaged in a bitter skirmish, only Aster the goblin managed to break away to help parsley to slow down the advancing werewolves. They were however proved to be insufficient, as Le Freak flattens Parsley again and dodges away from Aster running straight pass the touchdown line earning the Disco Dead the first touchdown of the day.

As the two teams return to their starting position, an angry fan chucks a rock at Opuntia the orc blocker stunning her leaving a gap in the Wildflower’s front line. The Disco Dead capitalized on the foul deed by attempting to push through once again with the werewolves while Brother Sledge the Flesh Golem, and a couple of zombies, The Shoveller and Morthana form a defensive line to tie up the other orcs from filling the gap.

After a bit of shuffling on both sides, the werewolves managed to break through once again to attack butterfingers Parsley but Mr. Furious got too agitated and managed to knock himself down at the same time.

Despite the efforts of the Disco Line, enough orcs managed to slip out to attack the pesky werewolf Le Freak, and a goblin stole the ball away. But the exposed goblin is soon pushed down by Mr Furious, the other werewolf, who again snatches the ball back. While the violent game of ball tag was carried out, an even more violent line battle between the undead and orcs resulted in MaBelle the zombie badly hurting Beebalm, an orc blocker, taking her out of the rest of the game. And with that, the stadium suddenly erupts into song "Ring mah Belllllleeelllll, ring mah bell!" Since it didn't look as if there was any major damage, Amaryllis, the Wildflowers nurse, ignored the groaning blocker and returned to her knitting.

After a bit of struggle, the Wildflowers managed to steal the ball back only to lose it yet again. It seems that the pot of greasy baby back ribs they ate before the game was a bad idea as they kept failing to pick the stupid ball up. It finally ends up in the hands of Le Freak but with time running out, it was too far away to score, even for the fleet footed werewolf.

A shrill whistle sounds just before the blast of the horn to signal the end of the first half. It seems that one of the nasty zombies attempted to stamp on a fallen orc! The referee will have none of that and sends the cheating cockroach off field into the sin bin.

Second half and the Disco Dead returned the favour by starting their attack early! However, the orcs have skillfully kicked the ball right up at the centre line! The Disco Line comes to an abrupt stop as one of the attacking undead slips on a bit of blood. Disaster for the dead! The ball is exposed!

The Wildflowers wasted no time in pushing through into the Dead half of the field but the ball continues to frustrate the girls as they failed to pick it up yet again. The show-off Mr Furious pushes his way into the orc mass to pick up the ball but the undead loses the initiative when the Shoveller trips over himself before his team mate have covered the back field. With the way to the end clear, the orc blitzer Clover sends Mr Furious to the moon, scoops up the bouncing ball and hops all the way to a touch down! The Wildflowers scores!

A new kick off again. Unbeknownst to the referee and the Wildflowers, the zombie that was sent to the sin bin at the end of the first half snuck back onto field! Questions will be asked and heads shall roll!

The orc offensive started with 2 of the orc blitzers pushing through the Disco Dead’s right flank to try to sack the DD ball carrier. Unfortunately the reduced number left the Wildflower’s line too weak as the Disco Dead smashed their way through yet again with the werewolves leading the attack. A familiar situation as the entangled orcs struggle to free players from the line war, a few scattered Wildflowers try to hold down the werewolf couple. Despite the valiant attempts by a line orc and goblin, Mr Furious manages to shake them off and scored the second touch down for the Disco Dead, sealing their victory.

While there was not enough time to score, Le Freak teamed up with the slutty Morthana who, obviously jealous of her better looks, managed to push the orc blitzer Larkspur into the crowd, badly hurting the poor girl. In the final moments of the game, the orc thrower Parsley picks up the ball and for no apparent reason throws it over to Ratama, the team captain. And fails. It took her a second try before she succeeds in passing the ball. Allegedly, it was overhead that the Wildflower coach Umbel threatened to confiscate her beloved spice rack should she fail to make a single pass in the game.

And with that the game draws to an end.

Final score for the Disco Dead is 2 touchdowns and 2 casualties, earning them 4 league points.

Final score for the Hongo Valley Wildflowers is one touchdown and 1 casualty, earning them 1 league point.

Pictures can be found here.

Round two: The Disco Dead vs Redskull Rascals

more information as it comes in,

Final score for the Disco Dead is 2 touchdowns and 1 casualty, earning them 4 league points.

Final score for the Redskull Rascals is no touchdowns and 5 casualties, earning them 1 league point.

O1 Troll KOs Morthana Woman in his first block. With me today is Trog the Toothless, to give us an insight into the inner workings of an Ogre Blood Bowl team.

The teams have taken to the field. The Bearded Ladies are sauntering on with catwalk finess, while the Twitchies seem to be dragging and coaxing the Ogres onto the pitch. What's that all about, Trog?

Trog the Toothless: Well, Karl. It appears that the Earthquakes are not sure why they have turned up today. We Ogres are used to being mercenary soldiers, and some of the lads might not have got the whole Blood Bowl idea into their Thick Skull yet. Don't worry, once the opponent gives one of them a shove, they'll naturally do their jobs.

KvK: Interesting. Well the Bearded Ladies have lined up and are ready. The referee has blown the whistle and the Dwarves have kicked the ball. What's this? The Twitchies are still explaining the rules of Blood Bowl to the Ogres! None of them are moving!

TtT: This is bad, they better wake up or the Dwarves will catch them flatfooted with a Blitz.

KvK: Oh my, the Dwarves have started shoving into the Ogres. That has brought them into action! They appear to have figured out what they are here to do today.

TtT: To thump Dwarves!

KvK: Umm, yes. Oh what's this! The mercenary Ogre that they hired 2 minutes before kickoff has shoved No.12 Dunbani into the ground. She looks like she's in a world of hurt.

TtT: Does anyone know the name of that Ogre? Ah, he's Borukk the Barefisted. Well done that lad. We might be seeing more of him in the future.

KvK: Barely 2 minutes and Dunbani's part in the game is over. The stretcher party has taken her ito the side lines. The Ogres have taken advantage of outnumbering the Dwarves and are driving deeper into the Dwarven line.

TtT: Ooooh, that's got to hurt. Twitchy No.747 has tripped over a spiked boot of a Dwarf and has landed poorly on his arm. He looks like he has dislocated something. To add injury to injury, Bezagg Brainbasher has thrown the Twitchy into the sideline and seem to be shouting Play On.

KvK: The referee has blown her whistle again. There is some commotion in the field with the players shoving each other. Someone has pissed off the ref.

TtT: Haha! Twitchy No.748 is going to have an early shower. He has been sent off for stomping on one of the Dwarf's face. Dubious decision though. It was purely accidental.

KvK: The Ogres want to keep momentum of the game. They are running riot in the Dwarven half of the pitch and have gotten the ball deep into enemy territory. They are carving a path through the Dwarven line for the Twitchies to get the ball through.

TtT: Touchdown! With most of the first half over, Twitchy No.743 has stolen the ball from beneath the gaze of the defending Dwarf and have slipped through and scored!

KvK: The clock is ticking down to halftime. The referee brings the whistle to her lips and blows for time. So, Trog, what did you think of that half?

TtT: The Bearded ladies started brightly enough, but could not make their initiative count. The Earthquakes fought back hard and deserved the touchdown. They will be disappointed not to have put more Dwarves onto stretchers. That might come back to haunt them in the second half.

KvK: The players are back out again. The sky is clear and the sun is shining bright.

TtT: The glare will make it hard for players to receive tha ball, but neither of these teams would be that bothered. They are here to break skulls, passing the ball is for Elves.

KvK: Kick off and the Dwarves clash into the Earthquake line.

TtT: No.3 Grugark Eyegouger has lived up to his name! He has just shoved his finger deep into the face of No.8 Kulgar. I bet she is feeling it. Just 2 minutes into play as well.

KvK: The Ogres are making their intentions clear by taking out players early on each half. I think Kulgar will be alright. She is bleeding all over the place but her eyeballs are still intact. The Apothecary has patched her up and she'll be allowed to rejoin the game.

TtT: Almost from the restart, the Dwarves have exacted their revenge. No.7 Karazgor has slammed her fist into Twitchy No.746's head. I do not like the angle his head is facing now. She must have broken his neck. Oh well.

KvK: Who says Ogres are too dim to learn. No.2 Bezagg Brainbasher has just learnt Karazgor's trick and now Olloban's lying on the floor with her head facing the wrong way. Her career might have been ended right there.

TtT: Aye, just 3 minutes into the half and we've seen 3 players stretchered off. The audience missed out on some bloodshed in the first half and are being treated to a bloodbath now!

KvK: Oh here's another player off. And he's done it to himself. Twitchy No.745 has tripped over and is reeling on the floor. His foot is swelling up like a balloon, and he will not likely be able to play for a few weeks.

TiT: He will consider himself lucky not to have broken anything. The Dwarves have formed a nice wedge down the flank of the Ogre's half and are driving through.

KvK: The other Dwarves are hurling themselves at the Ogres in order to distract them as Forbrinmin races towards end zone with the ball.

TtT: Touchdown! I never knew a Dwarf could run so fast. The Ogres nearly got her but she's done enough to level the match.

KvK: The Dwarves kick off again into the Ogre half. What's this then? The Ogres seem to be arguing among themselves about who was responsible for letting that touchdown through. The Dwarves have gone into a huddle and have rearranged their formation.

TtT: Yeah, they have swapped some players out into better positions. Lets see whether it helps them.

KvK: It has not and I'll tell you why. Morghurg Facemangler has taken out Bukbard. The Bearded Ladies player with the No.3 shirt. Punched her straight into the pitch. It will take the medical crew some time to pull her out. She's off for the match.

TtT: The Earthquakes look frustrated, and there remaining two Twitchies do not dare say a word. Nothing is going according to plan and the remaining Dwarves are proving harder to take down.

KvK: The Dwarves have found a gap in the Ogre line and are pouring through. The clock is ticking down. Amanbar has scored a touchdown! Surely its too late for the Ogres to come back. The Dwarves are headed for a win.

TtT: The Dwarves have reformed their line and have restarted the game while the Ogres are still staring at the end zone. The final whistle is blown! The Bearded Ladies win 2 to 1.

KvK: Yes, the shellshocked Ogres missed out on their last chance to thump a few Dwarf players. I think it's a fair result. The Dwarves go home with full points in the bag, having capitalised on two gilt-edged chances and scored them.

TtT: Aye. I think both sides can go home feeling lucky not to have suffered more than they did. When two rough teams like these clash, a high casualty count is always a possibility. The crowd got to see blood spilt, but most of the players will be alright after a few weeks. Not too many long term injuries.

This is Karl von Klore wishing you all a good weekend. Thank you, Trog the Toothless for sharing with us your insights.

Round one: The Redskull Rascals vs Silent D'Arters

A few highlights, more information as it comes in,

Start of the game

Big guys squares off

As the orcs surround the treeman, D'Arters infiltrate the Rascals half.

Damn me if they don't look bigger up close!

Tribal music fills the air as first score goes to the Silent D'Arters!

A wall of pygmies try to hold up the orcs offensive

The orcs moments before their score to equalise. Her hobby is painting ceramic mushrooms.

Umbel Hemlock (coach) is the team coach. Cheerful off field, cold hearted on field. She has high hopes for the girls and pushes them to their best. She enjoys reading and watching comedy plays.

Ciliata Primrose (team owner) is the money lady, owner of the team. Ciliata came into money by her timely investment in mushroom farms when a famine hit the neighbouring province. She is an avid sports fan and founded the Wildflowers, the valley's first and only touring blood bowl team.

Mallow (ball girl) is Ciliata's niece, who dreams of being a blood bowl player. She spends her vacation touring with the Wildflowers as a ball girl hoping to one day join them as a player.

Chamomile (cheerleader) is a happy go lucky sort of gal and was recruited into the Wildflowers cheerleading team when she accidently got on the wrong bus, which happened to be the Wildflower's touring bus. Her favourite pass time is drinking tea and flossing.

Zinnia (cheerleader) is the new girl on the team and hasn't quite got the routines down yet. Everyone puts up with her though because it is just not possible to hate her. She like to dye her hair and paint fingernails when she is not practicing her cheer routines.

Dandelion (cheerleader) is the captain of the cheerleading team, with a lot of experience cheering in the local Hongo Valley League before she was picked up for the Wildflowers. Despite her friendly nature, she is quite private and no one quite knows what she do in her spare time.

Mistletoe (team mascot) is the team mascot and everyone's pet. The little dog was picked up by Amaryllis one day while walking home in the rain when she saw the puppy sick and hungry in a rubbish dump. She brought it home and nursed it back to health. Now it roams around the Wildflowers training field and follows them to all their games.

Aspen (sports psychologist)
Rhubarb (physiotherapist)
Spikenard (physical training instructor)
Olive Lilac (referee)

The Hongo Valley Wildflowers

The fierce women of the Hongo Valley Wildflowers train hard and play hard. Azaleas (blitzer) is Vervain's childhood friend and was dragged into the sport. She has since proved to be a much more skilled player than Vervain and was quickly drafted into the starting lineup of the Wildflowers. She enjoys hiking in her spare time.

II. Clover (blitzer) is the bad girl of the team, constantly taunting her opponents and calling them foul names. She has also got into altercations with referrees, spectators, anyone and everyone. Except for her team mates. She is very loyal to her friends, something that sparked off more than one fights. She enjoys clubbing and drinking when she has a free night.

III. Ratama (blitzer) is the team's offensive captain. Which also makes her the team captain! She comes from a proud heritage of Blood Bowl players, many of her ancestors have played and excelled in the game both locally in the Hongo Valley, and abroad when they get head hunted. A fact her grandmother constantly reminds her of.

IV. Larkspur (blitzer) has always been blessed with an athelete's body and quite naturally started playing in the local junior league and eventually drafted into the Wildflowers. While she enjoys the sport, hair dressing is her passion. She is hoping to one day earn enough money to start her own hair salon.

V. Opuntia (blocker) is the younger sister of Beebalm and joined up together when her sister was signed on to the Wildflowers. Her favourite passtime is shopping in flea markets. Especially when the Wildflowers are on tour in a new place.

VI. Mustard (blocker) was born a tiny child and grew up constantly being beaten up by bigger sized children. Over the years, the many beatings she suffered made her larger and larger and eventually no one tried to beat her up anymore. Bored with the tranquility, she started playing blood bowl to find people to fight with. Even in her spare time, she enjoys picking fights and starting brawls but she has never been known to hold a grudge.

VII. Beebalm (blocker) is the elder sister of Opuntia and was simply recruited into the team when they went around the Valley and tested the biggest girl in each house. Her off pitch passion is music, jazz in particular.

VIII. Parsley (thrower) aka "Butterfingers" so called because of her favourite snack, buttered chicken. Her gloves are constantly greasy from her mid game snacks which incidently means that picking up the ball can be at times a tricky affair.

IX. Pimpernel (thrower)
X. Buttercup (line orc)
XI. Camellia (line orc)
XII. Poppy (line orc)
XIII. Willow (line orc)
XIV. Dewberry (line orc)

XV. Vervain (blocker in training) has always dreamed of marrying a rich orc and sees blood bowl as the best way to get there. Despite her small frame, she trains vigourously and can pack quite a punch! When the Wildflowers started drafting players from the Valley, she dragged her best friend Azaleas to join up with her. Her favourite past time is shopping and getting massages.

XVI. Bluebell (line orc)
XX. Aster (goblin)
XXI. Ficus (goblin)
XXII. Pothos (goblin)
XXIII. Stock (goblin)
T. Gladiolus (troll)

Da Cheerleaders

Round one: Blue Mountain Earthquakes vs The Hongo Valley Wildflowers

It’s a nice and bright day, perfect Blood Bowl weather! On field today is the first match between the fearsome Ogres from the Blue Mountain Earthquakes and the beautiful Orcs of the Hongo Valley Wildflowers. A coin toss favours the Earthquakes who decides to receive first. Just as the kick off is made, a wild cheer from the large number of Wildflower fans erupts boosting their morale greatly!

And the game is on! The flying ball lands directly on the head of Twitchy #741 who miraculously manages to catch it. A battle starts on the line of scrimmage as the ogres try to overpower the orcs and goblins. Unfortunately a slip on some muddy patch caused the ogre to fall over whist it was trying to push an orc out of the way.

The Wildflowers capitalized on the shift of momentum as they surged across the halfway line and blitzer Azaleas grabs the ball.

However she soon finds herself surrounded by ogres and twitchies, and fails in her attempt to pass it over to fellow blitzer Clover.

With the ball in the open, twitchies from left right and centre converge on the ball.

In an attempt to snatch the ball, line orc Buttercup delivers a fast kick to the knee of Twitchy #744 smashing it and the groaning little player had to be stretchered off.

The orcs manages to recover the ball and spends the rest of the half defending it to prevent an ogre touch down. A bitter brawl ensues on field as ogre Grugark Eyegouger knocks out Wildflower goblin Ficus, and the orc blitzer Clover in turn knocks out Twitchy #746. In the midst of the battle, Twitchy #742 sneaks in and kicks a dazed orc blocker Opuntia, knocking out the already downed player. Finally the line orc Camellia bumps into Twitchy #741, causing a familiar smashed knee.

As the opportunity to score diminishes, Twitchy #745 throws a pass to #743, showing the clumsy orcs how it is done. A horn blasts through the air signaling the end of the half, with no scores.

Second half starts with the ogres kicking the ball deep into their opponent’s half, causing Parsley, the orc thrower to scramble back to pick up the ball. Again, a loud clash signals the start of the battle at the line of scrimmage as the orcs pile on huge numbers to knock down their larger opponents. The lineorc Buttercup sneaks in to stomp on one of the fallen ogres only to be spotted by Priscilla, the referee of the match. However the close proximity of the large orc blocker Beebalm convinced her not to blow her whistle.

The ogres recovered to push back, with ogre Bezagg Brainbasher injuring the goblin Aster, who spent the rest of the game unconscious.

The orc blitzers penetrates the Earthquake’s line speeding deep into their half chancing for a passed ball. Twitchies move in to surround the blitzers in an attempt to harass them but the orc’s offensive team captain Ratama delivers a vicious stomp on the foot of Twitchy #742, smashing his fragile ankle.

As the orc thrower Parsley come under increasing pressure from the ogres, her guarding blockers managed to free her long enough for a medium pass to the waiting blitzers which she blotches. Once again the ball is in the open and Twitchy #746 scoops it up and dashes back down towards the Wildflower’s endzone.

However, moments before #746 manages to touchdown, the lineorc Buttercup displays an amazing feat of agility dodging away from ogres and twitchies sprinting faster than she ever has and jumped onto #746 injuring herself and knocking the ball into the crowd who were more than happy to lob it back onto the field. As the remaining minutes of the half passes, both team gave up hope of scoring and the entire field became a huge melee as the ogres use their superior strength against the numerous orcs. While several players were knocked down or out, no lasting injuries resulted.

The final horn sounds, signaling an end to the match. A nil all draw.

The injured line orc Buttercup and goblin Aster were checked over by the team’s quack and were declared to be fit for game.

Both Twitchy #741 and #744 suffered a niggling knee injury while #742’s smashed ankle will slow him down even when it heals completely.

Most valuable player for the Wildflowers was awarded to the line orc Camellia for her excellent plays in holding up the huge ogres and blitzing the small twitchies.

Most valuable player for the Earthquakes was awarded to Twitchy #742 for bravely standing up to the Wildflower captain who limped up onto the stage in crutches to collect his MVP award. The celebrating Ogres carried him on their shoulders and headed for the player tunnel. Noone has seen him since, although the stadium janitor did find a particularly stubborn stain in the locker room used by the Ogres.

Final score for the Hongo Valley Wildflowers is no touch down and 3 casualties, earning them 3 league points.

Final score for the Blue Mountain Earthquakes is no touch down and 2 casualties, earning them 2 league points.
<img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/30099690-115399015779535665?l=nutbowl.blogspot.com' alt='' You get them together with some of the fantasy football miniatures that they sell. For the casualties award, I use an arm that came from the GW zombies plastic box. To match the fake grass of the ball, I blobbed a bit of greenstuff on the base, sculpted some grass then plonked the arm on (to get a negative impression of the arm). After the green is cured, I removed it and dabbed a bit of superglue and stuck the arm back on to improve its stickage.

The base that I stuck the ball and arm to is a 20mm circle base, which I filled the slot with an expoy putty, then sandpapered flat. This is followed by a 30mm display type slotted base. Both bases are now readily available form several places including eM-4, Hasslefree and Heresy.

Lastly I wanted the award to have a big base so I went hunting, door knobs, counters, wooden wheels, whatever. Eventually I found this chinese chess set that had just the right sized playing pieces.

Then I stuck some moulded plastic letters to the playing pieces to spell out the award. I bought these from Slater originally to use the numbers on the side of the bases for my next team if I get round to doing another one... Since I only wanted the numbers, might as well use the alphabets for something! The one I used is the 3mm one, just lucky that there is a 3mm border around the base!

All the seperate pieces are then sprayed black. I decided to spray them seperately because I thought that it might be easier to get coverage over the little letters and also it would probably be easier to pick them out in paint later on. After the spray I discovered that I didn't do that good a job filling the slot so I patched up the few holes with wood filler then painted it black.

The individual pieces are then painted up where needed. The letters were picked out with Vallejo Game Colour 47 Wolf Grey. I didn't want to use white as I thought it would be too powerful and end up a bit flat, so I went for a pale bluish grey instead.

The metalic paint on the award models were first coated with Vallejo Model Colour (VMC) 864 Natural Steel. I watered it down a bit and painted 2 layers onto it to get a good coverage. Then I covered it with a wash made up of water, VMC 854 Brown Glaze, Tamiya Clear Orange, and an old Citadel Colour Armour Wash (they no longer produce it, but the formula is the same if you get a Coat d' Arms paint). Then I gave a second weaker wash on the 'grass' part to darken it. Then I use the original paint, Natural Steel, watered down to paint lightly over the raised part of the ball and hand. And lastly, gave the highest point a dab with watered down VMC 997 Silver to make it a bit more shiney.

When all the paints are dry, they are then stuck together. I use the equivalent of liquid nails. Leave it overnight for the glue to harden and the paint to dry completely. Then a matt varnish will finish the job. All done!

Epiloge: Stupid crappy varnish misted so I had to repaint the 'metal' bits... The misting created an odd effect on the black though that is sort of interesting. Stangely it did not affect the putty/wall filler I used to fill up the slot as much as the other bits making it look a bit funny. Maybe its to do with the acrylic paint I used to paint over the wood filler.

The Chaos Cup 2006 schedule

The Draw Is Up! I have always liked the 'old school' look of dowel range sticks.

The ranges in the game are 10cm, 10cm, 10cm, and 8cm.

I cut a 2mm diameter dowel to a length of 48cm, leaving 10cm as handle. It was all done in the matter of less than 3 hours, and for just around S$20!

Here's how we did it (minus the embarrassing mistakes...):

The theme of the pitch was 'arid', as it is supposed to go with the adobe terrain pieces I have ordered as part of my orc team's stadium. We used 1.5mm thick cork sheets as the surface, and glued them to hardboard backing with spray adhesive.

The cork sheet measured 2' x 3' and was cut into two pieces, and the hardboards 45cm x 30cm. The edges of the cork sheets overhanged the hardboards nicely.

The overhanging edges are trimmed off.

The two boards we placed edge-to-edge, and the first grid lines marked on both halves to ensure the lines would be straight when they are fitted together.

The grid lines are pencilled in.

And then marked with a dark-brown ink marker.

And it's ready to play on!

Blue Mountain Earthquakes

<img style="display:block; Rumour has it that not all are women. However, no independent source has made it into the dressing room and lived to tell the tale. So the rumour will have to remain just that.

All that can be said of them on the pitch is that their behaviour is not very lady-like. Team captain Mirabelle "Elfcrusher" McTavish was famously quoted after a game as saying "Ball, what ball."

Starting Roster
7 Blockers
2 Runners
2 Blitzers
3 RR
1 Apothecary
2 FF

The Disco Dead

<img style="display:block;
