Dugouts for less than S$12

I decided to make a couple of dugouts to go with my cork pitch.

material

For material I decided to stick with cork sheets, this time 3mm thick cork sheets, available in 18cm x 25cm size. For letterings and numbers I decided to use self-adhesive labels.

border

A 1cm border is made as a frame.

numbers

The cork sheet is too small to make 1-inch squares for the numbers, so I settled for 2cm squares instead.

done!

Add the letters and I was done!

(I had to change the wordings on the sheet a little as each set of letter labels came with only three 'R's!)

Making a Range Stick

At Mike's suggestion, I decided to make a range stick for my Blood Bowl set. I have always liked the 'old school' look of dowel range sticks.

The ranges in the game are 10cm, 10cm, 10cm, and 8cm.

I cut a 2mm diameter dowel to a length of 48cm, leaving 10cm as handle. The ranges are marked on the dowel with pencil.

mask

Scotch tape is used to mask each section during painting to ensure a clear demarcation.

mask2

Each painted section is painted in turn, with the previous painted section masked with tape.

i've got it...

A coat of spray varnish and it's ready to play. All done in under 30 minutes!

A Blood Bowl Pitch for S$20

FG and I managed to make a Blood Bowl pitch this afternoon (with technical advice from Boone). It was all done in the matter of less than 3 hours, and for just around S$20!

Here's how we did it (minus the embarrassing mistakes...):

spray adhesive

The theme of the pitch was 'arid', as it is supposed to go with the adobe terrain pieces I have ordered as part of my orc team's stadium. We used 1.5mm thick cork sheets as the surface, and glued them to hardboard backing with spray adhesive.

edge

The cork sheet measured 2' x 3' and was cut into two pieces, and the hardboards 45cm x 30cm. The edges of the cork sheets overhanged the hardboards nicely.

edge2

The overhanging edges are trimmed off.

pencil

The two boards we placed edge-to-edge, and the first grid lines marked on both halves to ensure the lines would be straight when they are fitted together.

grid

The grid lines are pencilled in.

ink

And then marked with a dark-brown ink marker.

play!

And it's ready to play on!

The Bearded Ladies

The Bearded Ladies
Tradition has it that this feared team of dwarven Bloodbowl misfits is drawn from the fiercest women warriors of the fabled Dwarven caverns of Crackodoom. Rumour has it that not all are women. However, no independent source has made it into the dressing room and lived to tell the tale. So the rumour will have to remain just that.

All that can be said of them on the pitch is that their behaviour is not very lady-like. Team captain Mirabelle "Elfcrusher" McTavish was famously quoted after a game as saying "Ball, what ball."

redskull rascals

The Redskull Rascals joined the Nutbowl League after having been kicked out from every major and minor orc football league for their un-orky penchant for passing and dodging during the game.

Team coach Dokter Arjun, M.B.B.S. (Mouth Big, Brain Small) is however convinced that his innovative plays will take the Rascals to the top of the Nutbowl League.

Hongo Valley Wildflowers

Hongo Valley Wildflowers
It is the custom in the Hongo Valley for their females to smack their potential mate unconscious before they agree to be partners and since they are not a particularly war-like folk, they decided to train and test their physical abilities in organized sport, Blood Bowl.

The Hongo Valley League has a long tradition of fierce competition and bloody outcomes and it is from this pool that the Hongo Valley Wildflowers are recruited. Team captain Ratama had this to say on a recent interview, “We will crush any between us and the touch down line. And when we push you down, you want to stay down. You want to stay down.”
